Why building a free website might hurt your company

It struck me after half a week of marketing that a lot of people out there uses free website building sites to create websites for their businesses.

After looking at the sites I couldn’t believe why they would do that to themselves and their business. So I tried to weigh up the options.

If I used a free website building site, what would be the benefit of it:

• First of ALL it is totally free… YES!! Everyone loves freebies
• Second of all, you have control over what you want on your website
• Thirdly, it can be done in a day… So it doesn’t take that much time to actually create a website

To be honest, I think that weighing up a website that you can create by yourself against some professional is quite a good deal… however, is it?

I found that most of the websites I went on that used free templates or used the free website builders out there looked rather dull and terrible. I realised that people think it will save them money, however the saying that buying something that’s cheap will cost you more in the end rings more true in this instance.

I highly recommend that people do NOT design their own websites, because it can cause a tremendously bad image of your business and what you want to achieve in life through you business. People do not think of the consequences when trying to market themselves through mediums like this.

Why I think people should NOT use free website builders and templates:

• Design work are poor and damages your business’ image
• It looks unprofessional when people see that you used free templates or free website builders to build an image of your business and won’t take you up as serious about what you are doing.
• You pay more in the end by loosing potential clients through bad designs

So come on people. Give design work to the professionals and do not try to reinvent the wheel. It will cost you business and a lot of moola.
